BARDS Health Technology Assessment.

Statistical programmers in HTA and HTA Statisticians are part of our Biostatistics and Research Decision Sciences (BARDS) organization which has a presence in the US, Europe, and Asia Pacific. The BARDS Health Technology Assessment (HTA) group specifically is located across our 3 European sites in Zurich, London, and Brussels.
The group works on multiple types of deliveries based on clinical data that spans across all company therapeutic areas, using complex statistical methodologies (such as treatment switching adjustment methods, or indirect treatment comparison methodology). We design and execute analyses of clinical trial data to support the development of health economic models and the clinical sections of HTA dossiers, supporting global, regional, and local access and reimbursement efforts.
We contribute to answering questions like: "What is the added benefit of a newly approved drug compared to a drug that is already in the market?", "What is the cost effectiveness per quality-adjusted life-year gained?", "How good is a new technology?". We offer career journeys within a company which values innovation, efficiency, diversity, respect, and that embraces hybrid ways of working and cares about work-life balance.
You can put your empathy, creativity, digital mastery, and scientific genius to work in collaboration with a diverse group of colleagues who pursue and bring hope to countless people who are battling some of the most challenging diseases of our time. Our team is continuously looking for talent, so join us-and start making your impact today.

HTA Statistics

MSD HTA Statisticians collaborate with multi-functional stakeholders across the company, including global functions and local affiliates to ensure that the clinical trial data are optimally characterised in HTA dossiers, and to implement innovative statistical approaches to address novel problems and complex analytical challenges (such as crossover and extrapolation analyses) in the HTA, access, and reimbursement space.
The primary activities of a BARDS HTA Statistician at MSD include designing analyses to address specific research questions and HTA questions, then executing analyses and interpreting the results. Ensuring quality of deliverables is of utmost importance and this is achieved by working closely with colleagues to create the reports to communicate results from the HTA evaluations and responding to their queries. HTA Statisticians also participate in exciting initiatives which investigate innovative ways of working.

Statistical Programming in HTA

Our ability to excel depends on scientific excellence, integrity, programming know-how, imagination, statistical knowledge, diversity, and teamwork. HTA Statistical Programmers, in collaboration with HTA Statisticians and other project stakeholders, work on the definition and implementation of strategic solutions utilizing multiple programming languages (SAS, R, and more).
We support the creation of statistical analysis outputs from clinical trial data assuring high quality and compliance with departmental SOPs and good programming practices. The Statistical Programming organization is continuously investing in standardization and automation leading to interesting initiatives to build and strengthen specific programming skills (in both SAS and R) and have the opportunity to collaborate within our global BARDS organization.
